Yale University psychology professor Laurie Santos, who is teaching an extraordinarily popular course on how to be happy, agreed it’s possible for people to feel both positive and negative emotions at once.

When the desire is fulfilled, it just means that the desire is no more – and thats why you feel happy. You feel happy because you are free from the desire – not because the desire is fulfilled.

Cry…. emotions are meant to MOVE. You may be going through the process of awakening. If joy is bubbling up for no reason, it could very well be that you are in the early stages of awakening. Emotions are meant to move. The deep sadness you are feeling is old and is wanting to come up and out.
