Can you announce your hand in poker?

According to Tournament Director’s Association, in a tourney you can not tell the truth about your hand until and unless you show it at after all action is complete at a showdown (The Jamie Gold rule). Often in cash games (but ALWAYS check with the floor), they allow showing one card while action is under way.

There is generally no requirement to ever show your cards in poker. You can fold or “muck” your hand anytime during play. In fact, the only time you are required to show your hand is in order to win the hand at showdown . To win a pot, a player must table both cards face up to qualify for winning the pot.
