Can we vacuum clouds?
So, *it’s possible*. It’s just not worth doing, because it would take a huge amount of work, money, and electricity, would make a huge amount of noise and environmental damage, and far more water will fall down out of the clouds on its own if we just wait, than we could ever vacuum up.
Why does the sky not have clouds?
The usual reason for the absence of clouds will be the type of pressure, with the area being under the influence of a high pressure or anticyclone. Air would be sinking slowly, rather than rising and cooling.
How does a cloud make water?
When air rises in the atmosphere it gets cooler and is under less pressure. When air cools, it’s not able to hold all of the water vapor it once was. Air also can’t hold as much water when air pressure drops. The vapor becomes small water droplets or ice crystals and a cloud is formed.
How can I create a cloud?
Clouds form from the condensation or freezing of water vapor….
- Form the water vapor. Fill a jar with 2 inches (5 cm) of warm water and stir.
- Form smoke particles. Ask an adult to light a match, blow it out and quickly drop it into the jar.
- Cool it.
- Watch the cloud appear.
- Make it disappear.
- The real deal.
How do you make an artificial vacuum?
Fluids cannot generally be pulled, so a vacuum cannot be created by suction. Suction can spread and dilute a vacuum by letting a higher pressure push fluids into it, but the vacuum has to be created first before suction can occur. The easiest way to create an artificial vacuum is to expand the volume of a container.
How does NASA study clouds in space?
NASA uses satellites in space to study clouds. NASA also studies clouds on other planets. Mars has clouds that are like the clouds on Earth. But other planets have clouds that aren’t made of water.
What causes clouds to form in the sky?
Heated by sunshine, the ground heats the air just above it. That warmed air starts to rise because, when warm, it is lighter and less dense than the air around it. As it rises, its pressure and temperature drop causing water vapor to condense. Eventually, enough moisture will condense out of the air to form a cloud.
What are the white clouds that cover the sky?
Cirrostratus clouds are thin, white clouds that cover the whole sky like a veil. These clouds are most commonly seen in the winter, and can cause the appearance of a halo around the sun or the moon. Weather prediction: Rain or snow will arrive within 24 hours! Cirrocumulus.
What are clouds made up of?
Clouds are made up of a bunch of cloud droplets bundled together with raindrops. Image credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/Alex Novati. We usually think of clouds as being up in the sky, but when conditions are right, a cloud can form at ground level, too. Then it’s called “fog.”.
