Can we go to temple after attending funeral?

Yes, you can. Only you have to have had a bath before you go to a temple right after attending a funeral/visiting the deceased’s family. The reason for doing that is more scientific than religious as are most Hindu traditions. Temples are clean and very sacred places.

Can we go to temple in sutak?

If anyone touches well or visits temple, he is considered as most sinful and against the norms of Sutak period. This system is important and arranged because the dead soul and Yamduts are always present around the house from where such person is dead.

Can we go to temple after death in family?

As per Garuda Purana, after death of close relatives, it is believed the people are in a state of asoucha or unclean. This is primarily due to the fact that the people would have been near the dead body. So once that state is prevailing, the people refrain from visiting temples. The reason is the unclean state.

Can I go to temples if a family member dies?

The deaths of my paternal family would not have the same thing, which means I could go to temples if I wish. Like most things in Arya-dharma, there is no prohibition imposed on anyone if a family member dies. You can go if you wish, or not if you’re feeling otherwise.

Why can’t we enter a Hindu temple without our family members?

And in Hinduism as Gods are also considered as a Human Form that can Eat , Bath Etc. therefore restriction on entering temples by family members can be explained. Also with passage of time, this idea may have diversified to cover even Long Distance Relatives. Answer : Mostly customs and needs.

What happens when a family member dies?

This is because death in a family usually will cause a lot of things to be taken care of, especially regarding the deceased’s personal affairs. Prayers needed to be attended to and the cremation process (which usually takes two days to complete) must be taken care of.

Who pays condolences when someone dies?

In many instances extended family, friends and general members of the community, including those who belong to the temple, where the decedent was a member, will pay their condolences and show support to the mourners. It is not uncommon for co-workers and even somewhat casual acquaintances to offer support during this time, as well.
