Can two people travel on one ticket?

A passenger seeking reservation of berth or seats should purchase tickets from the Railway Reservation Offices/Authorised Travel Agency only. However, if onward/return journey are involved, 2 or 3 forms can be accepted for the same passengers.

How many passengers can be booked using a single railway reservation form?

An individual user can book a maximum of six tickets in a calendar month. Booking can be done against General (GN), Senior Citizen (SS), Ladies (LD) and Tatkal (TQ) quota berths/seats only.

IRCTC also allows a passenger who is a government servant proceeding on duty and appropriate authority, to make a request for change in passenger’s name, in writing, 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train. However, such request can be granted only once.

How many lower berths are there for senior citizens in Rajdhani?

However in case of Rajdhani, Duronto and fully AC express trains, this quota in 3AC class will be four lower berths per coach. Apart from lower berth quota (that reserves some berths for such citizens) there is concession in fare for senior citizens which is called senior citizen concession.

How many berths are there in each compartment of the train?

It has 6 berths in each compartment. Only 2 berths are there on each side of the compartment and there is no middle berth. Therefore, it is also sometimes classed ac 2-tier. This gives ample space to passengers unlike crowded third AC coaches.

First AC sleeper Class of the Indian Railways are the most expensive mode of travelling. These are fully AC coaches. It consists of 4 or 2 berths per compartment and there are no side upper or side lower berths in 1A coaches. Compartment having 2 berths are called coupe and ones with 4 berths are called cabin.

What are the different types of reservation in Indian Railways?

There are 12 different types of quotas in the ticket reservation offered by Indian Railways such as General, Ladies, Tatkal, Senior Citizen etc. When booking begins (Advanced Reservation Period) which is 4 months before the departure of the train, around only 50\% of seats are released for the general public.
