Can immediate dentures be adjusted?
They aren’t custom-made to your mouth, so the fit isn’t as ideal as permanent dentures, and they may slip or move a bit. You may need to have your immediate dentures periodically adjusted or relined for comfort. “Relined” means adding extra material to the denture to account for changes in your mouth due to healing.
Why do my immediate dentures look so big?

Let us know right away if you notice changes in the way your dentures fit. As your bone structure and soft tissues change, we may be able to reset the denture if it is caught early enough.
What to do after immediate dentures?
Put the denture in a denture cup/container and cover it with clean, cold water. Leave it there while you sleep. After rinsing it again, put it back in your mouth in the morning. Continue with the warm salt water rinses for at least 7-10 days.
What can I expect with immediate dentures?
You may begin taking liquids or soft foods almost immediately. Most people progress slowly to a regular diet. This will generally take 10 days to several weeks depending upon your ability to tolerate the new denture, as well as the discomfort that you may experience when chewing with your new teeth.
Why is the surgical stent required for an immediate denture?
An immediate denture is initially more expensive than a conventional denture because additional time is needed for construction. A surgical stent (a guide for recontouring tissues after extraction) is often necessary and more follow-up visits are needed for adjustments and re-fitting.
Can dentures be corrected?
Can your dentures be repaired? If the fit of the dentures feels slightly off and no big breaks have occurred, the dentist can usually perform denture repair that fully restores the device. If the problem is caught early on, it can be fixed. Severely misfitting dentures may not be able to be repaired, however.
