Can I use the same essay for different medical schools?

Yes, admissions committees expect you to write a new personal statement when reapplying to medical school. While your new essay can focus on a similar theme and communicate the same qualities from your previous personal statement, the anecdotes should change.

Can I use the same admission essay?

Yes, as long as you fully answer the question. If more than one college has the exact same question with the same length criteria, you can use the exact same essay. Often two different essay questions can be talking about the same core idea using different phrasing.

Can I reuse the same college essay?

See, many colleges will ask for similar questions or essay prompts to include with your application. If you’ve already written an essay that happens to fit with another college’s similar prompt, then it should take you no time at all to spruce it up and submit it. Reusing the same essay is just fine.

Can you reuse a personal statement for medical school?

Do not reuse your previous personal statement; as a reapplicant to medical school, you really need to differentiate your current application from the previous one as much as you can. Some medical schools keep previous applications on file and compare the old and current applications.

Can I reuse secondary essays?

You will find considerable repetition among the questions posed by your schools. Feel free to reuse parts of essays whenever it’s appropriate to do so. Be sure to customize at least part of the essay so that the school sees your fit with their program.

Can you apply to the same medical school twice?

You can, and should, reapply to the same medical schools you had applied to the first (or second cycle) unless the school advised you specifically not to reapply. Nearly all reapplicants broaden the medical school list and add on more schools to improve the chances of acceptance with a reapplication.

Do you have to write a different essay for every college you apply to?

Fact: You should tailor your application essays to each school you’re applying to. While the main Common Application essay is meant to stay the same, many colleges have their own school-specific supplements with prompts meant to gauge a student’s knowledge of the institution and their motivations for applying.

Can you use the same Personal Statement If you reapply?

You’ll need a new UCAS account, but you can reuse your personal statement – but make sure you update it to include anything that has changed since your last application.

Do medical schools know what other schools you’re applying to?

No, medical schools cannot see how many other schools you applied to, let alone which ones. In AMCAS, you indicate which schools you’d like your primary application to be sent to. Those schools will see all of your information except where else you applied.
