Can I use FASTag without registration?

To have a Fastag account, you require all the details including the permanent registration number. Even if you are going through Paytm you need to upload the smart card which contains the permanent registration number. So, either way, it’s not possible.

Do we need insurance for FASTag?

All you have to do is to fix a FASTag RFID tag on the windscreen of your vehicle. According to the latest Motor Vehicles Act, it is mandatory to have an active car insurance policy when you are driving. New third-party vehicle insurance will be issued from 1st April 2021, only if the vehicle has a valid FASTag.

Can FASTag be issued without RC?

To purchase FASTag, you need to submit a copy of the Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle and a passport-size photograph of the vehicle owner. The KYC documents (ID and address proof) can be one or more from PAN Card/Driving License/Passport/Voter ID/Aadhaar Card (with address).

Is FASTag compulsory for insurance renewal?

On September 3, 2020, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways issued a press release which said that a valid FASTag will be made mandatory for anyone getting new third-party insurance as the FASTag ID of the vehicle will be captured along with other data in the vehicle insurance policy.

What is Paytm FASTag insurance?

Paytm FASTag is a simple and reusable tag based on radio-frequency identification technology (RFID) that will be affixed on a vehicle’s windscreen. Each FASTag is linked to a registered Paytm Payments Bank wallet / account to facilitate instant automatic deduction of toll charges.

How can I get immediate FASTag?

Simply go to a toll plaza with your KYC and vehicle registration documents to physically buy one. Getting to a toll booth close is the best approach to receive your tag quickly. The majority of banks and digital payment providers have set up temporary booths where people have been assigned to sell the RFID tags.

What happens if you don’t have a FASTag?

If you pass a FASTag-enabled toll booth, and your vehicle either doesn’t have a FASTag, or your card does not have sufficient balance, you will have to pay double the toll fee in cash to go trough. Additionally, from April 1, 2021 your vehicle must have a valid FASTag if you want to get it covered by a new third-party motor insurance policy.

How do I Register my FASTag?

First, your FASTag wallet will be created. If you own multiple vehicles, you can link your FASTags to a single wallet for convenient management and recharge. Once your account is ready, you can register your FASTag. Different issuers have different registration processes. But you can complete registration online.

What are the documents required for FASTag purchase?

FASTag Purchase In order to purchase your FASTag, you need to submit certain documents: Up to 2 passport size photographs of the vehicle owner (depending on the issuer agency). RC (Registration Certificate) of the vehicle.

Did you miss the FASTag deadline for December 2019?

The Minister of Road Transport and Highways announced in November that FASTags availed from toll plazas, Regional Transport Offices (RTOs), and transport hubs would be free of cost from 22nd November. But, unfortunately, the deadline for it was set on 1st December 2019 and you might have missed it.
