Can I use 10w60 instead of 10W40?
No don’t use 10w60 it will drastically decrease your fuel economy as well as performance. Also it will not reach in every gap and every corner of engine because of its high viscosity it will not pass fluently through tiny holes meant for 10w40 oil.
Can I use 10w60 instead of 10w50?
They both have the same weight at start up. Price is the same… No problem, that I can think of, the 10w60 may shear quicker than the 10w50 though, but you’d have it tested, really as long as you can hold a high 40 weight, should be fine.
Which oil is better 10W-40 or 20w 50?
The smaller number, (the 20 part of 20w-50) describes how the oil behaves at 40 deg C and a 20w at 40 deg C is about 10 times thicker than your engine wants. A 10w-40 is better at around 6 times thicker and a 0w-40 is much better at about 4 times thicker.
What is 10W60 oil?
A 10W-60 oil flows like a 10 Weight oil from start-up in Winter, but provides the protection of a 60 Weight oil once the engine reaches full operating temperature.
What oil is the same as 10W40?
10W30 and 10W40 engine oils are very similar. While both are low-temperature grade oils, 10W40 is thicker at high temperature; therefore, better to use in warm weather.
Can I wait to use 10w50 instead of 10w60?
So, just wait another day and a few more miles and just get a bottle of 10-60. One less thing to worry about. You’ll sleep better. Yes, I can wait, and I can also use that 10w50 oil.
Is a 10W oil change too early for break in?
Its not going to make any difference. 10w is nothing to be concerned about. Especially at the higher end, hot end of scale. One thing I believe in is NOT using a full syn oil for break-in This is a time when you want wear, use a standard dino oil. Opinions may vary, I believe an early oil change is not needed.
What kind of oil should I use in my OE engine?
Older engines were built with much looser tolerances, which allowed oils such as 10W30 to be commonplace as an OE recommended oil in the 1990’s and before.
