Can I travel with a photocopy of my passport?

Answer: No, you cannot travel internationally without a valid passport. Photocopies of passports are not acceptable. If you need your passport to travel internationally and do not have time to wait for routine processing, then you can apply for expedited passport renewal.

Should you carry your passport around?

Your passport needs to be in your carry-on bag while traveling, rather than in checked luggage, which has a higher risk of getting lost or being stolen. If you need your passport for a day trip, place it in a secure pocket or part of the bag you’re carrying.
