Joining BARC after MSc Physics is a two stage process. First you need to qualify in BARC online exam or get a very good rank in GATE physics exams. Candidates are short listed for interview on the basis of any of the results of above two exams. If you get shortlisted then first step is done.

Every candidate who qualifies BARC interview, is by default qualifies for OCES scheme. In OCES you’ll undergo a one year training program at any one of the Trainnig schools of BARC, IGCAR, RRCAT and NFC. After one year of training, you’ll be absorbed as Scientific Officer ‘C’.
What is the difference between OCEs and DGfS?
In OCES, you have to undergo rigorous training about nuclear engineering, you’ll have to study a lot of subject in one year period, its really heavy! But you get to have a chance of choosing your place of posting (if you’re in top 3 at least), where as in DGFS, the flexibility is less.
