Can I connect USB 2 to USB-C?

The physical USB-C connector isn’t backwards compatible, but the underlying USB standard is. You can’t plug older USB devices into a modern, tiny USB-C port, nor can you connect a USB-C connector into an older, larger USB port.

Is USB 2 compatible with USB A?

USB Type-A connectors are supported in every USB version, including USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and USB 1.1. USB 3.0 Type-A connectors are often, but not always, the color blue.

What is the difference between USB 2 and USB 3?

The main difference between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 is speed. USB 2.0 has a max speed of 480Mbps (Mega bits per second,) which converts to 60MBps (Mega Bytes per second.) USB 3.0 has a much higher max speed of 5Gbps (Giga bits per second, ie 1024Mbps) which translates to 640MBps.

Is USB 2.0 fast enough for MIDI?

In any event USB 2 is more than enough for any “pure” MIDI device. In fact, USB2 is more than enough for even MIDI + soundcard devices (e.g. S2, S4).
