Can I build React app without Redux?

However, if you’re just learning React, don’t make Redux your first choice. Finally, don’t forget that you can apply ideas from Redux without using Redux. For example, consider a React component with local state: It is perfectly fine as it is.

Do people still use Redux with React?

With their Context API and hooks like useState or useReducer , you can already tackle state management. Yup, Redux is still the most popular library for state management for React applications.

Can hooks replace Redux?

React Hooks are great but they do not replace Redux and they never will.

Is using Redux necessary?

Using Redux also means learning how it works, which again could be a waste of time if you don’t need it. As a rule of thumb – and one shared by one of Redux’s creators, Dan Abramov – you don’t need to use Redux unless you’re unable to manage state within React or other front-end frameworks you’re working with.

What is the fastest way to create a redux + React project?

We recommend using the Redux templates for Create-React-App as the fastest way to create a new Redux + React project. It comes with Redux Toolkit and React-Redux already configured, using a modernized version of the “counter” app example you saw in Part 1.

What should not be in a redux state?

1 The root state value should be a plain JS object 2 The state should contain the smallest amount of data needed to make the app work 3 Classes, Promises, functions, and other non-plain values should not go in the Redux state 4 Reducers must not create random values like Math.random () or Date.now ()

Does Redux care what the text of the action type is?

The Redux store doesn’t care what the actual text of the action.type field is. However, your own code will look at action.type to see if an update is needed. Also, you will frequently look at action type strings in the Redux DevTools Extension while debugging to see what’s going on in your app.

Is Redux overkill for your project?

Once you start using one of these libraries, you will find that on the vast majority of projects, Redux is overkill. When the data fetching/caching part of your app is taken care of, there is very little global state for you to handle on the frontend.
