Can a govt employee do regular study?

Yes, he may do so. But in the first instance he has to take the approval from the competent authority of his Department in this regard. He may attend evening classes, long distance education classes or through Correspondence Courses. However, he can not attend regular classes in office time.

Is study leave paid?

No, not necessarily. But you cannot refuse to provide an employee’s annual leave for this purpose. Depending on the Award, enterprise agreement or the contract you have with an employee, you may be required to provide study leave but it is not an entitlement that is set out in the National Employment Standards.

Can a govt employee take leave?
