Can Aspergers be mistaken for narcissism?

Still, though frequently found between the ages of 3 and 6, Asperger’s Disorder is often misdiagnosed as a cluster B personality disorder, most often as the Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). The Asperger’s Disorder patient is self-centered and engrossed in a narrow range of interests and activities.

What is the new diagnosis for Aspergers?

The DSM-5 also includes a new diagnosis, called social pragmatic communication disorder, which has some symptoms that overlap with Asperger’s. Doctors use it to describe people who have trouble talking and writing, but have normal intelligence.

Does the diagnosis of Asperger’s matter?

What matters is that a counselor thinks something is dysfunctional enough about your social interaction that you might have Asperger’s, and your wife isn’t happy with you. Those two things are enough to make you want to do some massive self-introspection. The diagnosis matters much less than what you do with it.

Why are people with Asperger’s like features dumbfounded?

If you are the person with Asperger like features you may be dumbfounded since your intention is never to hurt the people you care about, or for that matter to hurt anyone. Rather your intention is just to move projects forward towards the goal you have in mind.
