Despite the legal definition of an adult as someone “18 and older,” state courts have held that sexual relationships between students and teachers are against the law.

Can professors love students?

Otherwise there is a conflict of interest. In any case, it entirely inappropriate for a professor to have a sexual relationship with a student where he or she is on any kind of power position over the student. Clear consent can never be established under such circumstances.
