Are wrist wraps necessary for weightlifting?

It is recommended to use wrist wraps for your heavy sets and high loads. Don’t use them for the whole training session. Give your joints the possibility to get used to pressure, especially when you do your warm-up. Wrist wraps are designed to prevent physical overload.

Why do powerlifters wear wrist wraps when squatting?

Wrist wraps wrap tightly around your wrists to provide extra support for your joints. They are commonly used during heavy Bench Presses and other pressing exercises. You can also use them during Back Squats to provide extra support for your wrists.

Can you lift more with wrist wraps?

By allowing you to lift heavier and more often with the support that you need, the wraps reduce the strain on your muscles and joints. Repeated strain is what causes injuries, so remove the strain and get lifting!

  • You can leave excess material hanging after one rotation around the barbell
  • To tighten,cinch the strap so it has a snug fit on the barbell
  • How to use wrist straps?

    Begin by orienting the straps so that the loops are on opposite ends.

  • Take the strap with the loop on the RIGHT side (this is usually the one with the logo facing right-side up) and place it over your LEFT hand.
  • Run the end of the strap through the loop.
  • Tighten the strap by pulling the end through. The end of the strap should rest between your thumb and your index finger.
  • Take the strap with the loop on the LEFT side (this is usually the one with the logo facing up-side down) and place it over your RIGHT hand.
  • Just as we did with the left hand,run the end of the strap through the loop,and tighten it by pulling.
  • The following steps are the same for both hands. Run the bottom side of the strap under the bar and wrap it around the bar.
  • Wrap it around a second time.
  • Lay the end of the strap under your palms. Tighten your grip by rotating your hands forwards and back. This will become intuitive when you try it yourself.
