Are the mountains on the Moon high or low?

Clementine data show a range of about 18,100 meters from lowest to highest point on the Moon. The highest point, located on the far side of the Moon, is approximately 6,500 meters higher than Mons Huygens (usually listed as the tallest mountain).

Are the mountains on Moon taller than Mount Everest?

The highest point on the Earth is at the summit of Mount Everest, which is 8,848 meters (29,029 feet) above sea level. The lunar high point is 1938 meters higher than that of the Earth! However there are several major differences between the two points.

Why are mountains on the Moon jagged?

Mons Huygens is the Moon’s tallest mountain. Its height is 18,046 ft – more than half the height of Mt. Everest! The mountain is named after Christiaan Huygens, a Dutch astronomer who discovered Titan, Saturn’s largest moon.
