Are NPTEL videos useful for GATE exam preparation?
NPTEL Videos are great videos for learning a subject. They have been made by the best teachers in India, and are very detailed. However, in our opinion, they are only partly useful for GATE exam preparation. The NPTEL Videos were not made from the perspective to coach for GATE.

Is there a common point in using NPTEL?
So yes there is a common point here. Time is the constraint , if you are a final year student then you can hardly use nptel but if you are in second year then ofcourse you can use it as much as want. I agree that its lengthy , so you have to be selective in watching it and making notes.

Be very selective and watch only those lectures which can clear the topics of gate. Its the best source to study , use it wisely. To clear any particular concept it is good. But as you can each subject have atleast 40 -50 lecture of 1 hrs each.
