Why did Grishnakh take Merry and Pippin?

Grishnákh’s plans for the two captives, Merry and Pippin, were in conflict with Uglúk’s orders to deliver them unharmed. Grishnákh wanted to take them to Mordor, but Uglúk refused his plan, so Grishnákh slipped away while the Orcs and Uruk-hai argued amongst themselves.

Are orcs and Uruk-hai the same?

Uruk-hai actually means “orc-folk”, so, for the most part, Uruk-hai are, well, orcs. The term is used sometimes to distinguish the stronger, larger orcs bred by Sauron and later Saruman from the ordinary, run-of-the mill orcs found in the Misty Mountains.

The two sides of orcs are constantly arguing. The orcs camp near Fangorn, and Grishnakh attempts to take the hobbits away with him. The hobbits escape as Grishnákh is killed from an arrow. They flee into Fangorn Forest as the orcs are attacked by the men of Rohan.
