How does Doctor Manhattan perceive time?
According to Dr. Manhattan, everyone in the world is actually a puppet, pulled by strings through time and space. He is however the only person who is able to see the strings pulled around him. His ability to see the past and the future at any point in time suppresses his ability to act in the present.
Is Dr Manhattan all knowing?
The notion that Doctor Manhattan is an all-powerful, omniscient god is a bit of a misconception. Yes, he seems like a god to us, the mere mortals of the universe, but as he once said he’s still the universe’s puppet. Jon Osterman and the Doctor Manhattan he would become have always been the romantic type.
What is the point of Dr Manhattan?
Doctor Manhattan can do just about anything, he can manipulate all atomic particles down to the subatomic scale, he can see subatomic particles, he can teleport anywhere, he can create matter, destroy matter, multiply, grow, all of these things.
Is Dr Manhattan God?
In the DC universe(and in most Comic book universes) gods are a common ‘name’ for a specific type of races(Asgardians, Olympians, New Gods, etc.), and since Doctor Manhattan is not a member of such a race, he is not a god.
As we can see in the comics and film, Doctor Manhattan does not perceive time linearly as the human population does. If this is the case, how and/or what does he see?
Why can’t Doctor Manhattan travel through time?
He cannot travel through time, because he is IN and ACROSS time simultaneously. All moments occur simultaneously, and as such time has become an abstract construct for him, one in which the idea of a sequence of moments becomes meaningless. This doesn’t mean he can alter or change time; no more than his very personal history anyway.
How did Doctor Manhattan’s powers evolve over time?
With the merger of the Watchmen universe and the DC Universe, Dr. Manhattan’s powers grew exponentially and he was able to surpass his limits by being able to use reality-bending powers, having free will and being able to intervene. So, the character evolved and with that evolution, his powers grew to a practically unfathomable level.
How did Dr Manhattan lose his mind?
Dr. Manhattan was vulnerable to a burst of tachyons, theoretical, faster than light particles which scrambled his temporal awareness for a time. In essence, obscuring the perception of the future because they traveled through time, blinding Dr. Manhattan.
