Is Poland out of European Union?

Poland has been a member state of the European Union since 1 May 2004, with the Treaty of Accession 2003 signed on 16 April 2003 in Athens as the legal basis for Poland’s accession to the EU.

Will Poland leave the EU?

At this point there is no mechanism for the EU to expel a member nation. Donald Tusk, a former EU Council president and former Polish prime minister, recently observed, “We [Poland] are leaving the EU step by step. It’s not an exaggeration. This departs from all the norms on which the European Union is built” (EU Observer, December 19, 2019).

Is Poland part of the EU?

Poland is, however, one of the nine EU member states that are not part of the Eurozone . This means that the country has not adopted the Euro as its currency and continues to use the Zloty . In fact, Poland is not even part of the European Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM II) which is a prerequisite to joining the Eurozone.

Even though Poland, a member of the European Union, has not adopted the Euro and continues to use its own currency, the Zloty , the Euro is freely used throughout the country. Poland is obligated, by reason of the terms of membership in the European Union, to adopt the Euro.
