1) You can become proficient in a new language by having another character spend a few hours per day training you in a language that they are proficient in. 2) You can only learn one new language at a time. 3) The teacher can only teach one student each day.

You may simply level up to the right level, or if your campaign uses the optional Multiclassing rules you may multiclass into one of these:
- Cleric (Knowledge Domain) gets 2 languages of your choice at 1st level.
- Druids learn Druidic at 1st level.
- At 3rd level, Cavalier and Samurai fighters can learn a language.

All Player Characters can speak Common by default, as it’s less a language and more of a handwave to say there is no language barrier.
