Since Columbia has a much larger student body, you will unlikely be in a class of 3 people, and it’s hard to completely avoid large lecture courses at Columbia. That said, core classes and seminars (classes in your major that you take in junior/senior year) are capped at around 20, in these classes, the professors definitely expect you to speak.
