Is it OK to close your eyes during Salah?

It’s a sunnah to look at the place of sajda in namaz so one shouldn’t close his during namaz. However, if it’s difficult to get the concentration in namaz without closing eyes or you feel greater closeness to Allah in closing eye, you can close your eyes but you will loose this sunnah.

Do you have to close your eyes during prayer?

Absolutely not. The most predominant prayer position is arms raised up, looking up and prying out loud. The hands together, head bowed and eyes closed is about as far away from what prayer means. Prayer and supplication is not demand an enclosed position but an open, thankful receptive position.

Can we close our eyes in sajdah?

It is not a practice to be followed by Muslims to close ones eyes while praying. It is rather advisable to look at the spot where your head touches when you do sajda (prostrate) when at prayer. In fact it is not permitted to close ones eyes because this could lead to other straying thoughts or even to hallucination.

Where do you look during namaz?

Imam Malik says we should look in the direction of the Kaaba, which is the Qiblah, while Imam Al-Shafie and Imam Abu Haneefah prefer that we look to the point where we prostrate ourselves in prayer. This latter view is particularly recommended to the imam who leads the prayer and to anyone praying alone.

Is it mustahabb for a Muslim to close his eyes during prayer?

If he can focus more fully by closing his eyes because there are things that may distract him from his prayer, such as adornments and decorations, then it is not makrooh at all and the view that in this case it is mustahabb for him to close his eyes is closer to the aims and principles of sharee’ah than saying that it is makrooh.

Is it permissible to close one’s eyes during prayer?

There is a weak hadith regarding this, which is not sufficient as proof (in itself), but supports these other considerations. if one does not gain full attentiveness or is distracted in prayer if one s eyes are open, then it would be permitted (or, perhaps, even better) to close one s eyes.
