Why is my keyboard typing letters and numbers at the same time?

When the keyboard starts typing numbers only instead of letters, then probably the num lock is on. This lets your computer know that you have dedicated the keys (those that have letters and numbers on the same key) to typing numbers only. This is in fact a normal functioning of the keyboard.

Why are numbers coming up when I type letters?
