What type of adhesive is E6000?

Eclectic E6000 Adhesive is an industrial strength, self-leveling, perchloroethylene adhesive that is used for bonding plastics, metal, rubber, leather, masonry, vinyl, and wood. It is flexible, high strength, and resistant to water, chemicals, dilute bases and acids.

Yeah, I swear by E6000 it rocks, takes awhile, but way better than some most glues. JB weld for the harder pieces/metallic stuffs. But E6000 is great for leather too. It may not be THE strongest, but is way up there on my list of better glues to use aside from some types of 2 part epoxy.

What should you not use E6000 on?

No. E6000 is also not recommended for use on any polystyrene, polyethylene or polypropylene plastics. Will E6000 crack or break under stress? No, E6000 dries to a rubber-like consistency that is flexible and moves with adhered material.

Is there a better glue than E6000?

Both glues are great… I’d recommend Gorilla Glue if you hate foul odors. I would consider the Original brand if it’s important for your project to be waterproof. I would recommend e6000 if you’re looking for a tough as nails adhesive but don’t mind the above minor caveats.

E6000 is really strong, but takes a long time to dry. Because of this, we almost always use hot glue in conjunction with E6000. If you use a bit of hot glue along with your E6000, you get the instant hold from quick-drying hot glue, and the long lasting hold from the stronger E6000.
