Why is light on Earth but not in space?
The light from the sun travels a straight line without scattering and all the colors stay together. Since there is virtually nothing in space to scatter or re-radiate the light to our eye, we see no part of the light and the sky appears to be black.
Why can’t we see space in the daytime?
Observations in the daytime sky are more difficult simply because the surrounding sky is so bright during the day. The contrast between planet and sky is much lower during the day, making the planet harder to see.
What is the only thing on earth that can be seen from space?
The Great Wall of China
Artificial structures visible from Earth orbit without magnification include highways, dams, and cities. The Great Wall of China, often cited as the only human-made structure visible from space, is not visible from low Earth orbit without magnification, and even then can be seen only under perfect conditions.
Can you see the sun when you are in space?
You absolutely can see the sun from space. That ball of helium and hydrogen makes up 99.8\% of the mass of our solar system, so its just not possible to miss it or it being hidden. These are the photos taken from International Space Station, and you can definitely see the Sun.
Why can you see the Moon during the day?
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) -Although we are used to seeing the moon at night, sometimes we can also see the moon during the day. This is because the moon is reflecting the sun’s light. When the moon is in a sweet spot in the sky, it reflects the light so much that it is brighter than the sky.
Can you see Earth Lights from space?
Yes! Astronauts can definitely see earth lights from space.
Can you see a fart in space?
When astronauts are not in the space suit and floating about, the fart smell is exaggerated by the lack of airflow from the recycled air used and its inability to mask any smell. As per your second question on the ability to thrust about in space from a fart, this is very near impossible.
Can you touch a star in space?
Surprisingly, yes, for some of them. Small, old stars can be at room temperature ex: WISE 1828+2650, so you could touch the surface without getting burned. Any star you can see in the sky with the naked eye, however, would be hot enough to destroy your body instantaneously if you came anywhere near them.
Do astronauts see the earth spinning around them?
Instead, it looks like the universe is spinning around you. Like on the ground, with the sun and the stars going around you every 24 hours. In low orbit, you’re spinning very fast around the Earth. The astronauts in ISS, they do see the Earth spinning under their feet.
Is the International Space Station visible to Earth?
“The probability of a satellite [like the ISS] being in the field of view is not zero, but it’s small, because they’re in almost perpendicular orbits.” And even if it seems invisible in the wide-angle images of Earth, that doesn’t mean that space junk isn’t a highly visible problem to people involved in spaceflight.
Why is the sky not bright with all the stars visible?
The light from stars farther away than that has not yet had time to reach us and so can’t contribute to making the sky bright. Another reason that the sky may not be bright with the visible light of all the stars is because when a source of light is moving away from you, the wavelength of that light is made longer (which for light means more red.)
Why is the sky blue at night and black at day?
The blue color of the sky is a result of this scattering process. At night, when that part of Earth is facing away from the Sun, space looks black because there is no nearby bright source of light, like the Sun, to be scattered. If you were on the Moon, which has no atmosphere, the sky would be black both night and day.
