How can you make sure that your body gets a balanced nutrition?

The basis of a healthy diet

  1. plenty of colourful vegetables, legumes/beans.
  2. fruit.
  3. grain (cereal) foods – mostly wholegrain and high fibre varieties.
  4. lean meats and poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, nuts and seeds.
  5. milk, yoghurt, cheese or their alternatives, mostly reduced fat.
  6. Drink plenty of water.

How many calories should a gymnast eat per day?

A high-carb, low-fat diet, with a moderate amount of protein, is recommended for gymnasts, according to USA Gymnastics. Most gymnasts should eat a minimum of 2,000 calories per day.

How can teenage athletes gain weight?

  1. Protein foods (eggs, lean meats, fish, beans, etc)

A Gymnast’s Energy Needs The high level gymnast, typically 13-18 years old, needs anywhere from 12-14 calories per pound of bodyweight just to support their most basic metabolic functions (basal metabolic rate, i.e. how many calories the body needs to lay in bed all day).

What does it take to be a successful gymnast?

The highest level of gymnastics requires what I consider a “total package athlete” to be very successful. By definition, that means a gymnast has to be physically strong, mentally stable, emotionally sound, and have an excellent support system at home. Kids who have a lot of fears are not good candidates for competitive gymnastics.
