When can I apply for MIT 2021?
Applying to MIT
- 🗓 The Regular Action deadline for first-year applications is January 5. If you’re applying RA, make sure to complete the requirements in time!
- 🗓️ The transfer application deadline for spring entry has passed. The fall entry deadline is March 15.
Is the MIT application open?
MIT has its own online application, which is available online from mid-August through January 1. The application deadline for Early Action is November 1, and January 1 for Regular Action. Early Action decisions are non-binding, and are announced in mid-December.
How do I get into MIT 2021?
Here are the complete MIT application requirements:
- MIT requires that all students submit SAT, ACT, or TOEFL scores.
- MIT requires all students submit five short essays as part of their application.
- MIT requires that all students submit two letters of recommendation.
When should I apply for financial aid MIT?
The application deadline is February 15, and awards are released in mid-March. Continuing students: April 15. The financial aid application deadline for the following academic year is April 15. You will receive your award in late May or early June.

What is MIT doing to encourage young people to apply?
Most importantly, we try to encourage young people to be students and community members first, and applicants second. The first-year application is now available in the MIT application portal. The transfer application is closed. Please check back at the end of August for updates.
What if I can’t fit in the application?
If what you need to tell us simply won’t fit, please email us and explain what you weren’t able to fit in the application, referencing the application piece (Part 1 or 2) and the relevant question. Be sure to clearly indicate your name (last name and first name) and date of birth, so that your email can be filed with your application.
Should I Save my application before submitting it?
If you have to research material that might take some time to collect, such as high school information, we strongly suggest that you save your application first and save often. Saving your application does not mean that you have submitted it to us. You can save and update information as much as you like before submitting it.
What should I do if I cannot retrieve my mymit password?
If you still cannot retrieve your password, send an email from the email account registered to MyMIT to Tech Support explaining the problem. Please be sure to include your full name and date of birth, so that we may locate your record and resolve your concerns as quickly as possible.
