Is nerd bad or good?

So, no it is not in the bad or negative sense but you still have to be careful with this word some people might find a bit offensive to be called a “nerd” especially when this word has a first definition that is kind of negative. It used to be more offensive than it has become.

Is it offensive to call someone nerd?

Yes, it is absolutely offensive and demeaning. It is almost never used in a truly positive sense with a few exceptions. ‘Nerds and Geeks’ are bullied, not celebrated. Sometimes it is used in an endearing way, but even then imbued with undeserved condescension and pity which supposedly makes it ‘funny’.

Is being pretentious a bad thing?

Generally, being pretentious isn’t bad, it’s neutral. Pretending to be better than someone else is bad but pretending to be better than you really are is good, this is why they say, act as if, pretending to be a better you can actually manifest a better you, there’s nothing wrong with than.

Is being a nerd a good thing?

By definition being a nerd cannot be good, even though in recent years, we have seen “geek chic” make some stereotypes of nerds, such as the wearing of gaudy, vintage-looking glasses frames ironically fashionable. The concept of a nerd is that of somebody who is very knowledgeable about some subject but who does not interact well socially.

Is it bad to be pretentious in San Francisco?

It is so hard to hire strong engineers for my company in San Francisco. Generally, being pretentious isn’t bad, it’s neutral.

Is being pretentious a form of lying?

Pretentiousness is basically thinking that you are better than everyone else. It, by definition, must be obvious, therefore it’s tantamount to lying, even if you have over time brainwashed yourself into thinking that you really ARE better than everyone else. They aren’t fooled.
