Does the Depo shot keep you from having a period?
As you continue to use Depo-Provera Contraceptive Injection, you may skip a period or stop having periods completely. This is normal. More than half of all women who use Depo-Provera Contraceptive Injection for one year have no menstrual bleeding.
What shot makes your period stop?
Many women stop having their menstrual periods after about 6-12 months of getting Depo-Provera® injections. This is no reason to worry. It’s not a medical problem and it does not mean you are pregnant.
Does the 2 month injection stop periods?

- Skin reactions (such as pain, rash and/or itch at the injection site.
Can you fall pregnant while on the 2 month injection?
On average this will be six months but it can take up to one year. If you are planning a pregnancy soon it may be best not to use Depo Provera. If you get pregnant while using Depo Provera, and decide to continue with your pregnancy, there is no additional risk of damage to the baby.

- It can cause unwanted side effects.
- It doesn’t provide protection against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
- It can cause irregular menstrual periods.
- You need to stop taking Depo-Provera® several months ahead of time if you plan on becoming pregnant.
Does Depo make you fat?
Depo-Provera (depot medroxyprogesterone acetate , or DMPA) is an effective and relatively easy form of birth control. It does appear to cause weight gain for many women, though. 1 Weight gain is often cited as the reason women stop using the shots. DMPA can change body composition and increase fat mass.
Does Depo make your VAG dry?
In particular, hormonal birth control pills and shots can cause vaginal dryness in some women. Yaz, Lo Ovral, and Ortho-Cyclen birth control pills can cause dryness. The Depo-Provers shot can also lead to vaginal dryness.
