Why did cersei bring back the faith militant?

Cersei, being the vindictive and manipulative tramp that she was, wanted to re-empower the faith militant again in order to gain control over the small folk, hoping to use the popular Seven Gods to curtail the populace of King’s Landing and strengthen Tommen’s rule.
