How do you calculate electric vehicle charging time?

How to calculate charging time yourself?

  1. Divide the load power by 1,000 for a value in kilowatts.
  2. Divide the power of your battery (also in kW) by the figure obtained to get the charging time.
  3. First calculate your load power (P), by multiplying the voltage (U in volts) by the current (I, in amps).

How do you determine the range of a battery?

Range is calculated by dividing the amount of energy in the batteries (kWh) by the efficiency of the vehicle (kWh/mile).

How is tesla range calculated?

The first step is to calculate EPA highway and city range by multiplying the dyno scores by 0.7. EPA Highway range would be 400*0.7= 280 miles and EPA city range would be 500*0.7= 350 miles. Then you take 45\% of highway range and 55\% city range to calculate the combined range which is also known as EPA rated range.

What is the average charging time of an electric car?

A typical electric car (60kWh battery) takes just under 8 hours to charge from empty-to-full with a 7kW charging point. Most drivers top up charge rather than waiting for their battery to recharge from empty-to-full. For many electric cars, you can add up to 100 miles of range in ~35 minutes with a 50kW rapid charger.

How fast is a 11kW charger?

Miles per hour charge rate

3.7kW Charger 11kW Charger
Charging Speed (up to) 10 miles an hour 30 miles an hour range
Required Power Supply Single Phase Three Phase
Usual Location Homes Workplaces, Public Places

How do I find out the range of my car?

You need two numbers – the capacity of the battery in kWh and the current draw of the motor (at whatever speed you’re talking about) which is in kW. Divide the first number by the second and you have the range in hours – multiply that by the speed you chose – and you’ll have a pretty good idea of the range in miles.
