Symptoms of a dextromethorphan overdose include:

  • Breathing problems, including slow and labored breathing, shallow breathing, no breathing (especially in young children)
  • Bluish-colored fingernails and lips.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Coma.
  • Constipation.
  • Seizures.
  • Drowsiness.
  • Dizziness.

How many days can you take dextromethorphan?

Do not take this medication for more than 7 days unless your doctor tells you to do so. Tell your doctor if your condition lasts longer than 7 days. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember.

Can you overdose on cough pills?

It’s possible to overdose on too much DXM, especially if it’s in pure powder form. Someone who overdoses may have brain damage or seizures, and might even die. People using cold medicines to get high may not realize they are taking high doses of many drugs, not just DXM.
