What is faceless tax assessment scheme?

In the Union Budget 2019, the Finance Minister proposed the introduction of a scheme of faceless e-assessment. The scheme seeks to eliminate the human interface between the taxpayer and the income tax department. The scheme lays down the procedure to carry out a faceless assessment through electronic mode.

What is faceless income tax appeal?

The procedures for disposal of these appeals have been changed under the Faceless Appeal Scheme implemented from 25th September 2020. The objective of the scheme after the faceless assessments is to eliminate human interface from the first appellate system too.

When was faceless assessment introduced?

Launch: The faceless assessment scheme was launched in 2019.

Is transfer pricing covered under faceless assessment?

Any taxpayer in whose case the variation arises as a consequence of the order passed by the Transfer Pricing Officer. However, such ambiguity has now been removed and such taxpayers can now also be covered under Faceless Scheme.
