What is the purpose of Calpads?

California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) A longitudinal data system used to maintain individual-level data including student demographics, course data, discipline, assessments, staff assignments, and other data for state and federal reporting.

Who has access to Calpads?

All CALPADS data are maintained in compliance with state and federal privacy laws, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Only authorized users may access CALPADS, which uses role-based security.

Who reports to Calpads?

The two available reporting options are: The charter school reports data directly to CALPADS and CBEDS, independent of its authorizing agency, or: The charter school’s authorizing agency reports the charter school data directly to CALPADS and CBEDS.

How Calpads data are used and consequences?

The data certified in the CALPADS Annual Submissions are used for many purposes, including funding calculations for various State and Federal programs. The data maintained in the CALPADS Operations Data Store (ODS) are used for many purposes including accountability metrics and statewide assessment registration.

What is ODS in Calpads?

The CALPADS ODS Extract file may be used to compare and identify differences between the CALPADS data and the data in the local student information system.

How often does Calpads update?

Beginning in the 2021–22 academic year, the California Department of Education will conduct a series of quarterly updates via webinar for local educational agencies (LEAs) regarding the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS).

When was Calpads created?

The California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) was created to enable California to meet federal requirements delineated in the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001, which increases accountability for student achievement. CALPADS has been operational since 2009.

What is Lea Calpads?

CALPADS provides local educational agencies (LEAs) with access to longitudinal data and reports on their own students, and it gives LEAs immediate access to information on new students, enabling the LEAs to place students appropriately and to determine whether any assessments are necessary.

What is Cbeds?

The California Basic Educational Data System (CBEDS) is an annual data collection administered in October. CBEDS data are reported through an Online Reporting Application (CBEDS-ORA). The purpose of CBEDS is to collect data about schools and districts, as well as some aggregate data on students and staff.

What is unduplicated pupil count?

“Unduplicated count” means that each pupil is counted only once even if the pupil meets more than one of these criteria (EC sections 2574(b)(2) and 42238.02(b)(1)).
