By circa 9 ABY, Moff Gideon, who had participated in the Great Purge of Mandalore the Empire had launched against the Mandalorians, had acquired the Darksaber. He later used it to escape from the wreckage of his Outland TIE fighter after a confrontation with Din Djarin on the planet of Nevarro.
