Do colleges look at your diploma?
College admissions boards look at GPA, class rank and the rigor of the classes a student takes. Graduates with a diploma generally have a competitive edge here, because they have a complete high school transcript, while GED diploma recipients won’t have a complete transcript.
Is a GED as good as a diploma?
Basically, a GED is a series of tests used to show if you have a high school level education or not. Once you’ve earned your GED, it’s practically as good as an actual diploma. Studies say 96\% of employers accept a GED as being equal to a diploma. Community colleges will accept GEDs with no hassle.
Do you really need a diploma?
While you don’t need a high school diploma to apply for jobs or enroll at a community college, having one will allow you to go to a four-year college or university. A high school diploma also means you’ll be making more money on average than if you didn’t have one!
Can you graduate without a diploma?
If you’re done with high school, or about to be, and were unable to graduate, don’t give up. You can still get a high school diploma whether you dropped out or did not have enough course credits. Or you can pursue your education goals at a community college without one.
Can I transfer from a CSU to a UC?
Yes, you absolutely can transfer from a CSU or Junior College to the UC system. The process is the same as it was when I did it 30 years ago: Make an appointment and then meet with your school’s guidance counselor (or whatever they call them these days).
