Are Buddhists actually happy?

Scientists say they have evidence to show that Buddhists really are happier and calmer than other people. Tests carried out in the United States reveal that areas of their brain associated with good mood and positive feelings are more active. This area is linked to positive emotions, self-control and temperament.

Why is pleasure bad in Buddhism?

Throughout the Sutta Pitaka the Buddha often compares sexual pleasure to arrows or darts. So in the Kama Sutta (4.1) from the Sutta Nipata the Buddha explains that craving sexual pleasure is a cause of suffering. If one, longing for sensual pleasure, achieves it, yes, he’s enraptured at heart.

Are Buddhists the most peaceful?

BUDDHISM is generally regarded, with good reason, as the most peaceful of world religions. Like other south Asian faiths, it stresses the principle of ahimsa, the “non-injury” of other living things. Early Buddhist history contains strong pacifist messages.

Buddhism encourages independence through non attachment. Non attachment is the idea that in order to be fulfilled and happy in life, a person cannot be attached to any one thing because this thing can cause suffering. The idea of unconditional love is essentially what Buddhism teaches.

Simple reason, really. Most Buddhists are happy because before the attainment of enlightenment, Buddhist practices lead to less suffering and more happiness. As long as they are practicing regularly, a Buddhist will be generally more happy than someone who doesn’t do Buddhist practices.
