How do I stop my HP from hibernating?

Open a command prompt as an Administrator and type the following “powercfg.exe /hibernate off” minus quotes of course. This will shut that accursed feature right off and get you some hard drive space back too.

Look for things like turning off the hard disks. Being plugged in or on battery can affect this for laptops. If your machine is a desktop, my recommendation is to turn hibernation off and rely on turning off the monitor and activating the screen saver with PW on after 10 minutes.
