What is skin of detects?

Skin detection is the process of finding skin-colored pixels and regions in an image or a video. This process is typically used as a preprocessing step to find regions that potentially have human faces and limbs in images.

Why is the RGB color model not favorable in the application of detecting human skin?

Skin color detection is the process of separation between skin and non-skin pixels. RGB color space is not preferred for color based detection and color analysis because of mixing of color (chrominance) and intensity (luminance) information and its non uniform characteristics.

What is skin segmentation?

Skin Segmentation is widely used in biometric applications such as face detection, face recognition, face tracking, and hand gesture recognition. The proposed algorithm consists of three main steps including initial seed generation of skin map, Otsu segmentation in color images, and finally a two-stage diffusion.
