Aside from the physical benefits, playdates help toddlers and older kids to develop and grow vital skills such as social, problem-solving, and critical thinking while also presenting many new learning opportunities. Playdates allow children to communicate, learn to share, learn about teamwork, and much more.

The largest breakout began in the 1980s. As Larry Sanger began to grow up, the phrase seemed to rocket upwards. By the turn of the millennium, “play date” seems to have become common parlance, save for a bit of a hitch in the last few years (more on this later).
