How do you use MTG cycling?

[type]cycling [cost] (Discard this card: Search your library for a [type] card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library.) Cycling is a keyword ability that allows a player to pay a cost that includes discarding the card. When the activated ability resolves, that player draws a card.

Does cycling count as a spell?

No, Cycling is an activated ability that you can only use while the card is in your hand. Casting a spell requires that you pay a cards mana cost printed in the upper right of the card.

Does cycling count as an instant or sorcery?
