Does General chemistry use calculus?

Most chemistry series don’t involve any calculus that students are required to know or do. However, it does help some topics make a bit more sense. For instance, when talking about reversible and irreversible work calculus comes in handy for understanding why they function the way they do.

Do colleges care if you take pre calc?

Probably not. Pre-calculus is a remedial course for people who are required to take calculus in college. For the rest of the folks, you may elect to take “college algebra” as a credit toward evaluation, but folks who have had the course can usually find a way to get credit for the course.
