Why are people in Japan so friendly?

For centuries, Japanese have been taught from a young age that they need to be responsible members of their families and their country, and serve others’ needs before their own. As a result, the people became obedient and relatively passive, used to having their lives regulated by rules.

Why are Japanese humble?

Japanese people try to avoid letting others know that they stand out and that they are better than others. By doing so, they try to avoid being envied or hated by others. Harmony or showing they are average is sometimes important to maintain a group harmony. Isn’t this a very strange culture?

What it like for an American to live in Japan?

Wise. Americans love Japan. They love the unique culture, cherry blossoms, the never ending nightlife of Tokyo and of course, sushi. Japanese culture fascinates many people in the states, and its strong economy draws in many expats.

Why do foreigners leave Japan?

Many are relocating to Japan because of the great business opportunity. Since the job is the most important thing on their mind, they don’t make an effort to get to know the country that they are moving to. That way, they aren’t prepared for the living conditions that are waiting for them there.

If you have never been to Japan before, or you don’t understand Japanese, traveling to Japan may worry you. Many tourists from all over the world travel around without understanding the language just fine. You can travel in Japan just fine without knowing any Japanese.

Respect in the Japanese culture likewise includes their actions in everyday life. They are very particular with how they are supposed to act when with others. For example, when visiting another person’s house, you must remove your outside slippers. It is also considered polite to bring a small gift for the homeowner.

It’s also really safe and clean, and the average standard of living is relatively high. Plus, it’s a great place to be a nerd! I could go on. But there are aspects of living in Japan, and Japanese society, that can make it difficult.

Are foreigners happy in Japan?

Considering this, many foreigners have been very happy to live in Japan for many years as pariahs of society, being able to observe but never fully expected to participate. This is again, very dependent on your outlook on whether or not this is a good thing.
