A person with the short service commission will not get the allowances and benefits after the retirement as Permanent commission officers get. There are many other benefits of Joining the service as a short service commission especially when you are joining the technical Department of the Indian Armed forces.

Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF): To retire from active duty as a commissioned officer, you must have 20 years of active duty service, with at least 10 of those years of service as a commissioned officer (the Secretary of the branch of service may waive this requirement to 8 years of service as a commissioned officer).

Is SSC officer eligible for pension after 14 years of service?

You need minimum 20 years of service to get pension. SSC is only for 14 years maximum. You have to opt for PC after 14 years and complete 6 more years to be eligible for pension. SSC officers are however eligible for CSD facilities after their 14 years of service. Flying branch of air force is a PC job, unless you apply through AFCAT.
