Is it safe to give Aadhar card photo?

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) maintains that when people share their Aadhaar card details for digital activities they should take due precautions, however, they also maintain that sharing the Aadhar details is safe.

Can anyone misuse my Aadhar card photocopy?

UIDAI has clearly stated that one can not open a bank account merely by presenting or submitting a physical Aadhaar Card or its photocopy. So as per the rules, no fraudster can open a bank account against your name using your Aadhaar Card details without verification through biometric or OTP.

Is it safe to give soft copy of Aadhar card?

Absolutely not. When you give Aadhaar number to your banks, mutual fund companies, mobile phone companies, they only send Aadhaar number, your biometrics (given at the time authentication) and your name etc. to UIDAI for verification for your identity.

Can someone hack my bank account with my Aadhar card?

Just as by merely knowing your ATM card number, no one can withdraw money from the ATM machine and by knowing your Aadhaar number alone, no one can hack into your bank account and withdraw money. Your bank account is safe if you don’t part with your PIN/OTP given by banks, UIDAI said.

Can police block Aadhar card?

Technically, no. On paper, police departments do not have access to the Aadhaar database. Section 29 of the Aadhaar Act does not permit Aadhaar biometric details to be shared with anyone or to be used for any purpose other than to generate Aadhaar numbers and for authentication.

Can someone misuse my PAN card photo?

If someone is able to get your xerox copy of the PAN, then also it may be misused to obtain a loan or credit card or something else in your name. Chances are also there some suspicious person may try to register on the Income tax website and try to file income tax return by using your PAN number.

Can I change my photo in aadhar online?

Can I update my photograph in Aadhaar Card online? No, you can only update your demographic details ( such as name, address, DoB, gender, mobile number, email) online. For Biometrics (Fingerprints, Iris & Photograph) in Aadhaar, you have to visit the Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Centre.

How can I secure my Aadhar card?

Send SMS 1947 with Aadhaar Register mobile number as RVID Space last 4 or 8 digit of UID. Select Unlock radio button, Enter Latest VID and security Code and click on send OTP or select TOTP and click on Submit. Your UID will be unlocked successfully.

How can I check a person’s criminal record in India?

There is no sure shot way or any website which can reveal the criminal record of a person in India. No website or application can tell the criminal history. One way to check for criminal record of someone is by asking around, asking the neighbours, you can even ask the company if he/she is working somewhere.

How do I know if someone is using my PAN card?

When your PAN card is illegally used, you may not even be aware of this for atleast 6 months after the wrong transaction. You can check for such benami transactions by going through your Form 26AS, which is a consolidated statement of tax deducted, along with other details.

How can bank account details be misused?

Someone can misuse your documents to open a bank account to defraud people. Fraudsters typically replace the details on the identity documents. For example, they can change pictures, address, etc. They can then use the Aadhaar, PAN Card or driving license to take a loan or open a bank account.
