Do TVS need to be mounted in studs?

You must screw into studs when mounting a TV on the wall. Do not use hollow-wall anchors, as they cannot support the weight of TV wall mount brackets and the television. Locate the two studs in your wall that will support your TV. (Some models are fastened to only one stud.)

Is one stud enough to mount a TV?

Be sure you are using the correct TV wall mount for the type and weight of the TV and method of mounting. Most TV wall mounting with only one stud can be accomplished with 2.5 inch lag bolts on the stud and 4 toggle bolts rated at 90 pounds or higher.

A screw in a stud can hold between 80 and 100 pounds. Be sure to distribute the weight across as many as you can. The easiest way to increase the amount of weight a screw in a stud can hold is to simply double up. If you have room for a second or a third screw, just add more.

Is it safe to mount your 65 inch, 75 inch or larger TV on the wall? The answer to this is yes, you can mount your XL TV on the wall. Safety is paramount, of course. That’s why it is always important to check whether the TV mount used is TÜV certified.
