Can you take a picture of Earth from space?
Satellites in orbit regularly photograph the Earth’s surface. NASA’s Landsat series of satellites have consistently orbited and captured images of the Earth since the program launched in 1972. Today, the Landsat program is not the only one to take satellite images of Earth.
Does NASA have pictures of Earth?
Over the past 60 years, astronauts have shot more than 1.5 million photographs of Earth from the International Space Station and other spacecraft. Most have been catalogued by the Earth Science and Remote Sensing (ESRS) unit at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
How many oceans are there NASA?
It’s National Geographic official now: There are five. Most of us learned about the world’s oceans in elementary school. There’s the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Indian and the Arctic. Now, there’s a sea change ahead.

What is the real image of Earth?
The Blue Marble is an image of Earth taken on December 7, 1972, from a distance of about 29,000 kilometers (18,000 miles) from the planet’s surface.
Are the pictures of the galaxy real?
It’s important to remember that we live inside the Milky Way Galaxy, so there’s no way to show a true photograph of what the Milky Way looks like. We can see pictures of the Milky Way from inside it, or see artist illustrations of what the Milky Way might look like from outside.
Why can’t you see the stars in space?
The stars aren’t visible because they are too faint. The astronauts in their white spacesuits appear quite bright, so they must use short shutter speeds and large f/stops to not overexpose the pictures. With those camera settings, though, the stars don’t show up.
Are there 5 Oceans now?
There is only one global ocean. Historically, there are four named oceans: the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, and Arctic. However, most countries – including the United States – now recognize the Southern (Antarctic) as the fifth ocean. The Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian are the most commonly known.

Why can’t we see the sun in space?
In space or on the Moon there is no atmosphere to scatter light. The light from the sun travels a straight line without scattering and all the colors stay together. Looking toward the sun we thus see a brilliant white light while looking away we would see only the darkness of empty space.
Why can’t NASA give us a photo of the Earth from space?
Armed with the truth united we stand, for peace, freedom, health + happiness for all. IN NEARLY 60 YEARS of alleged space exploration NASA has never been able to offer us a single genuine photograph of the Earth from space—NOT ONE!
Is it possible to take a picture of Earth from a satellite?
ALL JOLLY FASCINATING, but wouldn’t it be easier to simply take a photograph—just one photograph—from one of your oh-so-many ‘satellites’? Apparently not. The good folks at NASA tell us the only whole Earth ‘photos’ they have were taken during the Apollo 17 mission.
How do we measure distance from ground stations to satellites?
Cheng and Tapley used the NASA SLR data, which measured the distance from ground stations to satellites by using satellite lasers that are accurate within a millimeter. The NASA Satellite Laser Ranging Mission studies the Earth’s mass and gravity changes.
How many satellites are used to measure Earth’s mass movements?
Data spanning 28 years from 8 satellites are used for measuring the large-scale mass movements on the Earth and global solid Earth dynamics. Click on image to enlarge.
